Guru Nanak Jahaz is an upcoming Punjabi-language film that dramatizes the historic 1914 voyage of the Komagata Maru. The story centers on Mewa Singh Lopoke, who, driven by systemic racism in Canada, embarks on a revolutionary journey. Visionary Sikh businessman Gurdit Singh, along with 375 fellow passengers, sails on the daring voyage of the Guru Nanak Jahaz (Komagata Maru), challenging discriminatory immigration laws and confronting the harsh realities faced by the diaspora.
Directed by Sharan Art and produced by Manpreet Johal under Vehli Janta Films, the movie stars Tarsem Jassar and Gurpreet Ghuggi. Scheduled for release on May 1, 2025, the film will be available in Punjabi and English (with English subtitles).
