Kitaab Kahani is Radio Haanji's dedicated punjabi kahani podcastāprofessionally produced audio stories narrated by Ranjodh Singh. Each episode brings real-life stories, biographies, and historical events to life in beautiful Punjabi language.
Born Different: December 4, 1982
"I love my life. I have no arms and no legs, but I have hope." ā Nick Vujicic
Nick Vujicic was born in Melbourne, Australia, with tetra-amelia syndromeāa rare condition occurring in only 1 in 80,000 births. He had no arms and no legs. Doctors told his shocked parents that Nick would never have a quality of life worth living.
They were spectacularly wrong.
Childhood Depression and Suicidal Thoughts
As you listen to this punjabi audio kahani, you'll hear how Nick's school years were filled with bullying and isolation. Other children stared, laughed, and asked cruel questions. By age 8, Nick battled deep depression.
At just 10 years old, he attempted to drown himself in a bathtub. But one thought stopped him: "What about Mom and Dad? How much more pain would my death cause them?"
That moment of love for his parents saved his life.
The Turning Point: From "Why Me?" to "What For?"
At age 15, Nick became a Christian and discovered a new perspective. Instead of asking "Why me?" he began asking "What can I do with what I have?"
His mother showed him a newspaper article about a man living happily despite disability. Something clicked: Life without limbs doesn't mean life without purpose.
Birth of a Speaker
Listen to this fascinating part of the punjabi audio storytelling: When Nick was 17, his school janitor told him, "Nick, you're going to be a speaker one day."
Four months later, Nick shared his story with just 6 people at a church prayer group. People were moved. They were inspired.
That audience of 6 would eventually grow to include:
- Over 3,500 stages in 78 countries
- Audiences up to 110,000 people
- Billions reached through television and online content
Education and Success
Despite physical challenges, Nick graduated from Griffith University at age 21 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree (double major in accounting and financial planning). He founded:
- Life Without Limbs (nonprofit ministry)
- Attitude is Altitude (motivational speaking company)
- NickV Ministries (evangelical outreach)
He also wrote bestselling books including "Life Without Limits" and "Unstoppable."
Love Finds a Way
One of the most beautiful parts of this punjabi audio story is Nick's love story. In 2010, while speaking in Dallas, Texas, Nick noticed a beautiful woman named Kanae Miyahara in the audience. Their eyes met.
Nick later joked: "It was love at first sight. I couldn't feel my legs when I looked at her... but then again, I never could!"
Kanae fell in love with Nick's character, faith, and spiritānot his physical appearance. On August 1, 2011, aboard a sailboat, Nick proposed using his mouth to pull a ring from inside an Ć©clair. She said yes.
They married on February 12, 2012, and now have four beautiful, healthy children:
- Kiyoshi James (born 2013)
- Dejan Levi (born 2015)
- Twin daughters: Ellie Laurel and Olivia Mei (born 2017)
What Makes Nick Unstoppable?
Nick doesn't just talk about overcoming obstaclesāhe lives it daily. He:
- Surfs and bodyboards
- Plays golf and cricket
- Swims competitively
- Has gone skydiving
- Skateboards and rides horses
- Plays drums in worship bands
He does this using his small partial foot with two toes, which he's learned to use like fingers.
Nick's Four Life Pillars
Listen carefully to these lessons from the punjabi audio kahani:
1. Love Yourself
Your value isn't determined by what you have or don't have. You are a gift, just differently packaged.
2. Dream Big
Don't let circumstances limit your dreams. It's not about having more to do moreāit's about doing the best with what you have.
3. Don't Give Up
Challenges are there to strengthen us, not defeat us. Every obstacle is an opportunity for growth.
4. Hope is Everything
When you have hope, you have everything you need to move forward, no matter how difficult the path.
Nick's Most Powerful Quote
"If you can't get a miracle, become one."
Life Lessons We Can Learn
Your Disability is Not Your Identity
Nick refused to be defined by his limbless condition. He chose to be defined by his purpose, faith, and determination.
Pain Can Become Your Platform
The very thing that caused Nick the most pain became his platform to inspire millions. Your deepest wounds, when healed, can become your greatest ministry.
Faith Provides Perspective
Nick's faith transformed how he saw himselfāfrom mistake to miracle. Faith doesn't change circumstances, but it changes how we see them.
Love is Possible for Everyone
Nick's marriage and four children prove that love sees beyond the physical. Everyone is worthy of love regardless of their challenges.
Small Beginnings Lead to Great Impact
From 6 people to billions reachedāyou don't need to start big to end big. You just need to start.
