ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਧੀਆਂ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ: ਮਹਿਲਾ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਵਿਵਾਦਿਤ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ 'ਤੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਲਬ
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਰਾਜ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਇੱਕ ਕਥਿਤ ਵਿਵਾਦਿਤ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਲਬ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦਾ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੱਖ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਦੋਂ ਨਵਾਂ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਰਾਜ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਆਗੂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਮਨ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਇਹ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਜਨਤਕ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਜਾਂ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਕਥਿਤ ਅਪਮਾਨਜਨਕ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਵਾਦਿਤ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ 'ਤੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਮਹਿਲਾ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਚੇਅਰਪਰਸਨ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਗੰਭੀਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਚੁਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਬਰਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟੀਕਰਨ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਸਮੇਂ 'ਤੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਤਾਂ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਗਲੀ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਅਮਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆਂਦੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ, ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਮੁੱਦੇ 'ਤੇ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਦੀ ਘੇਰਾਬੰਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਨਤਕ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਮੁਆਫ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਖਹਿਰਾ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਤੋੜ-ਮਰੋੜ ਕੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਰੰਜਿਸ਼ ਤਹਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਿਆਨਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਚਰਚਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਏ ਹੋਣ, ਪਰ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਸਖ਼ਤੀ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਵਧਾ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।
A new controversy has erupted in Punjab politics following the State Women’s Commission's decision to issue summons to senior Congress leader and MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira. This action was taken based on an allegedly derogatory and controversial comment made by Khaira regarding women during a public event or via social media. Taking a strict note of the matter, the Chairperson of the Women's Commission stated that the use of such language by an elected representative cannot be tolerated.
Sukhpal Singh Khaira has been directed to appear before the Commission to provide his explanation. If he fails to appear at the scheduled time, the Commission may initiate further legal proceedings. On the other hand, opposition parties have started cornering Khaira on this issue, demanding a public apology. Meanwhile, Khaira’s supporters claim that his statement has been twisted out of context and that the entire situation is politically motivated.
This is not the first time Sukhpal Khaira has made headlines for his remarks; however, the strict stance taken by the Women's Commission has compounded his political troubles. The Commission has also instructed the police administration to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
