Australia has announced teams for the upcoming ODI and T20 matches to be played against India. Fast bowler Mitchell Starc has returned to the Australian ODI team for the three-match home ODI series against India starting from October 19. Pat Cummins is recovering from a back injury, so Mitchell Marsh will captain in his absence. Starc had retired from international T20 last month and did not participate in the home ODI series against South Africa in August after returning from the West Indies Test tour. Selectors have also named a 14-member team led by Marsh for the first two international T20s after the ODIs against India in preparation for next year's T20 World Cup. Selector committee chairman George Bailey said that teams have been named for the ODI series and the first two matches of the T20 series because some players will be rested in the later part of the series.
Alex Carey will not play in the first ODI as he will play a Sheffield Shield match for South Australia. Josh Inglis has returned to the T20 squad and Nathan Ellis has also been included. Uncapped Matthew Renshaw has been added to the Australia ODI squad and could make his debut. Matt Short and Mitchell Owen have also been recalled, who were out due to injuries in previous series. Glenn Maxwell has been dropped and is dealing with a wrist injury.
The dates for the ODI series are: first ODI on October 19 in Perth, second on October 23 in Adelaide, and third on October 25 in Sydney. The T20 series is of five matches, with the first T20 on October 29 in Canberra and second on October 31 in Melbourne.
