ਜ਼ਿਕਰਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਐਨਕਾਊਂਟਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੁਲਿਸ 'ਤੇ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਗਾਏ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਤਸ਼ੱਦਦ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਨਕਾਰਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਜਾਇਜ਼ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਸੀ। ਹੁਣ ਪੋਸਟਮਾਰਟਮ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਪੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੌਤ ਸਿੱਧੇ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਗੋਲੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ।
