Welcome back to another high-energy session of Laughter Therapy on Radio Haanji 1674 AM! Your favorite hosts, Krishna and Ranjodh Singh, are back to bring a smile to the Punjabi diaspora in Australia. Today’s episode was a beautiful mix of emotional family milestones, festive Mother's Day preparations, and the classic Punjabi wit that keeps us all connected, whether we are in Melbourne or Punjab.
Celebrating Family Milestones Across Borders
There is nothing like the bond of family to light up a radio show. We were joined by several callers sharing their joy. Young Samar called in to celebrate his father’s birthday, and we couldn't miss wishing Simran Uncle a very happy birthday! The highlight, however, was little Fateh, who called in to talk about his grandmother’s birthday back in India. The airwaves were filled with sweetness as the children on the line joined together for a heartfelt birthday song. It truly proves that Radio Haanji is the home of the Indian community in Melbourne.
Mother's Day: Gifts, Surprises, and Little Mishaps
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, the excitement was palpable. Asees Kaur and Tamneit shared their plans, from personalized cups to school gift stalls. Of course, it wouldn’t be Laughter Therapy without a bit of a blooper—one of our callers shared the hilarious (yet tragic!) moment she accidentally broke the very cup she bought for her mum! It’s these real, raw moments that make us the best Punjabi radio station for families.
Healing Through Humor: Arza’s Return
Humor is often the best medicine during tough times. We were touched by listener Arza, who returned to the show after the passing of her maternal grandfather (Nana Ji). She reminded us why we do this show—to find light even in the shadows. She shared a brilliant joke about "ladies' and gents' fans" (Usha and Bajaj) that had Krishna and Ranjodh in stitches! Punjabi Riddles & Jokes | ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਬੁਝਾਰਤਾਂ
It’s time to test your brain! Our listeners brought some fantastic riddles (Bujhartan) to the show today. Can you solve these?
ਬੁਝਾਰਤ (Riddle)
(Fire)
And for our younger listeners, we had this playful one:
Q: What do you call a bear with no teeth?
A: A Gummy Bear! (ਗੰਮੀ ਬੀਅਰ!)
We also shared a laugh about the Sun’s "work-life balance." Why don't we see the sun at night? Because it needs to sleep just like the rest of us! And let's not forget the girl who asked a fortune teller about her marriage, only for him to realize she was his former student—talk about an awkward reunion!
Chilly Vibes and Daily Banter
The weather talk was in full swing! While we enjoy the Australian climate, our listeners in India mentioned temperatures dropping to a freezing 6°C. From the struggle of leaving a warm bed to the weight of heavy school jumpers, the Punjabi community in Australia definitely felt the chill through the phone lines.
