Chandigarh University’s UIMS Partners with Radio Haanji Australia for Global Media Collaboration

Mohali, Punjab | May 18, 2026:
In a significant step towards strengthening international media and academic partnerships, the University Institute of Media Studies (UIMS) at  Chandigarh University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Radio Haanji Australia. The collaboration aims to create meaningful opportunities for students in the fields of journalism, radio, digital media, and global communication.

The MoU was officially signed by Mr. Gautam Kapil, Sydney Head for Radio Haanji and Prof. Dr. Satbir Sehgal, Registrar and Pro VC, Chandigarh University in the presence of senior university officials and faculty members, including Professor Ashita Chadha, Executive Director, Liberal Arts Cluster, Mr. Gagandeep Chauhan, Additional Director UIMS, Professor Jyotsana Thakur, Head of Department, Journalism and Mass Communication, Ms. Geet Nidhi Sharma, Station Head for Radio Punjab, Community Radio Station for Chandigarh University and Mr. Sunny Dhaliwal, Assistant Professor, UIMS. 

The partnership is designed to give students greater industry exposure through workshops, internships, guest lectures, collaborative media projects, and interactions with international media professionals. Both institutions expressed confidence that the initiative will help students better understand the evolving global media landscape while enhancing practical learning experiences.

Speaking on the occasion, representatives from UIMS highlighted the importance of connecting classrooms with real-world industry practices. They noted that collaborations like these help students develop professional skills, creative confidence, and a broader global perspective.

Radio Haanji Australia, known for its strong connection with the Indian diaspora community in Australia, has been actively promoting multicultural communication, entertainment, and community engagement through radio and digital broadcasting platforms.

The collaboration reflects Chandigarh University’s continued commitment to innovation, industry engagement, and international academic cooperation in the field of media and communication studies.
