Kids call in with Punjabi riddles, Pappu jokes, a salary sher, and one original song — full recap of Laughter Therapy 14 May on Radio Haanji 1674 AM Melbourne.
Laughter Therapy on Radio Haanji 1674 AM did exactly what it says on the tin. Hosts Ranjodh Singh and Krishna Bhardwaj opened the phones and let the kids take over — and the kids delivered. Punjabi riddles, a Pappu joke that's somehow still funny, a sher about a husband's salary vanishing into a saree, and one girl who showed up with an original song she wrote herself. Not a bad hour at all.
Here's everything that happened, joke by joke.
Teg — The Riddles That Got Everyone Thinking
Four riddles landed in this episode, and at least two of them will make you pause before you get the answer.
Teg's Riddle —
Teeg opened with a classic Punjabi teeg in Gurmukhi:
My aunt lives on a high hill; when I go she laughs, but when I leave she cries.
Answer: ਕਪਾਹ (Cotton) — when you pick cotton you pull it off the plant (it laughs), and when you leave the plant is bare (it cries). Old school Punjabi imagery, still works perfectly.
Arnab's Riddle —
Arnab — who also made sure everyone knows he's passionate about fast bowling — came with this one:
What goes from one place to another without moving?
Answer: ਸੜਕ (Road) — it connects two places but never goes anywhere itself. A bit philosophical for a kid, honestly.
Ashleen's Riddle —
Ashleen brought a riddle about something that moves in opposite directions depending on which way you pull it.
Answer: Window Blinds — pull the cord one way, they go up. Pull the other way, they come down. Simple but clever.
Tavneet's Riddle —
Tavneet closed the riddle round with one that still catches people off guard:
What can run but cannot walk?
Answer: ਦਰਿਆ (River) — rivers run, but they don't walk. Try arguing with that logic.
The Jokes That Had the Studio Going
Yuvraj — Pappu
Yuvraj went with a Pappu joke — a genre that refuses to die, and good for it. The teacher threatens Pappu with the "murga" punishment for not doing homework. Pappu's response:
"Sir, I'm vegetarian — make me matar paneer instead."
The logic is airtight. The teacher had no comeback.
Renaz —
Renaz came with a sher that every married man in the audience probably felt personally:
"You look so lovely in this saree — it just costs my entire salary."
Two lines, zero argument possible.
Fateh — Pappu
Fateh brought another Pappu entry. A beggar comes to the door and tells Pappu the neighbours gave him so much food his stomach is completely full. Pappu's solution? Hand him a Hajmola tablet. Thoughtful — in a very Pappu kind of way.
Mannat — Tina
Mannat told a joke about a wife named Tina who tells her husband a shirt would look great on him — clearly a setup for asking him to buy her a suit. The husband figures out the game and tells her no matter how many compliments she throws, he's not buying it. Tina's final word: his face looks like a ਕੱਦੂ (pumpkin). Tina wins.
(Meri Maa, Mera Pita)
This was the highlight of the episode. Mannat didn't just call in with a joke — she came with an original song she wrote herself, titled "Meri Maa, Mera Pita". An emotional tribute to parents, set to AI-generated music. Her own words, her own melody.
It's the kind of thing that reminds you why this show works. Kids calling in to share something they actually made — not just a borrowed joke from a WhatsApp group.
