ਮਿਲੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਆਈ.ਟੀ. ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀਆਂ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਸਵੇਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਰਾਏ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਅਤੇ ਦਫ਼ਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਛਾਪੇਮਾਰੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਹ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਮਾਨਸਿਕ ਦਬਾਅ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ। ਅਚਾਨਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਲਾਇਸੈਂਸੀ ਪਿਸਤੌਲ ਨਾਲ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਲੀ ਮਾਰ ਲਈ। ਗੋਲੀ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਕਮਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਭੱਜੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਡਾਕਟਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਐਲਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
