ਇਹ ਮਤਾ 27 ਅਗਸਤ, 2025 ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ 'ਤੇ ਲਗਾਏ ਗਏ ਵਾਧੂ 25 ਫੀਸਦ ਸੈਕੰਡਰੀ ਟੈਕਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਵਾਧੂ ਟੈਰਿਫ, ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਲਗਾਏ ਗਏ ਟੈਕਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਕਈ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮੂਲ ਦੇ ਉਤਪਾਦਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਕੁੱਲ ਟੈਕਸ ਨੂੰ 50 ਫੀਸਦ ਤੱਕ ਵਧਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

The resolution specifically seeks to revoke the additional 25 percent secondary tax imposed on India on August 27, 2025. This extra tariff, combined with previous levies, has increased the total tax on several Indian-origin products to 50 percent under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
Congresswoman Ross emphasized that North Carolina's economy is deeply connected to India through trade, investment, and a vibrant Indian-American community. She noted that Indian companies have made over a billion dollars in investment in the state, creating thousands of jobs in sectors like life sciences and technology. Congressman Veasey described India as a critical cultural, economic, and strategic partner, while Raja Krishnamoorthi stated that removing these tariffs will help strengthen US-India economic and security cooperation. This move is part of a broader effort by Democratic members to challenge Trump's unilateral trade measures and mend the stressed US ties with India.
