ਕਾਂਗੋ: ਕੋਮਾਂਡਾ ਚਰਚ ’ਤੇ ਬਾਗ਼ੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਹਮਲਾ, 21 ਮੌਤਾਂ
ਪੂਰਬੀ ਕਾਂਗੋ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਾਂਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਕੈਥੋਲਿਕ ਚਰਚ ’ਤੇ ਇਸਲਾਮਿਕ ਸਟੇਟ ਸਮਰਥਿਤ ਅਲਾਈਡ ਡੈਮੋਕਰੈਟਿਕ ਫੋਰਸ (ਏਡੀਐੱਫ) ਦੇ ਬਾਗ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ 21 ਜਣੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ। ਹਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਘਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਕਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਲੱਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਲਾਸ਼ੀ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ। ਕਾਂਗੋ ਫੌਜ ਨੇ 10 ਮੌਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਤਲੇਆਮ ਕਰਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਇਸਲਾਮਿਕ ਸਟੇਟ ਸਮਰਥਿਤ ਬਾਗ਼ੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਕਾਂਗੋ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਾਂਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਕੈਥੋਲਿਕ ਚਰਚ ’ਤੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਘੱਟੋ-ਘੱਟ 21 ਜਣੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ। ਇੱਕ ਸਿਵਲ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਚਰਚ ਹਮਲਾ ਅਲਾਈਡ ਡੈਮੋਕਰੈਟਿਕ ਫੋਰਸ (ਏਡੀਐੱਫ) ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਤ ਲਗਪਗ ਇੱਕ ਵਜੇ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਹਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਘਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਕਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਅੱਗ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ। ਕੋਮਾਂਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਵਲ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਕੋਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ ਦਿਊਦੋਨੇ ਦੁਰਾਨਥਾਬੋ ਨੇ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ, “21 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਲੀ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਘੱਟੋ-ਘੱਟ ਤਿੰਨ ਲਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਘਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੜਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਮਿਲੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਤਲਾਸ਼ੀ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ।”

Islamic State-backed rebels from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) carried out a deadly Congo church attack in Komanda, eastern Congo, killing at least 21 people. A civil society leader reported that the Komanda attack took place around 1 a.m. inside a Catholic church complex. The assailants also set fire to several houses and shops. Dieudonne Duranthabo, a civil society coordinator in Komanda, told a news agency, “More than 21 people were shot dead, and we have recorded at least three charred bodies and several houses burned. The search is ongoing.”
A Congolese army spokesperson in Ituri province, where Komanda is located, confirmed 10 civilian casualties. The ADF rebels, linked to the Islamic State, earlier this month killed dozens in Ituri province, an act described by a United Nations spokesperson as a “bloodbath.” The ADF is a rebel group operating in the borderland between Uganda and Congo, frequently targeting civilians. This Komanda attack highlights the fragile security situation in northeastern Congo’s Ituri province. Local residents have demanded immediate action from security forces, as reports indicate the Islamic State rebels remain nearby.
