ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਏਕੜ ਕਣਕ ਦੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਗੀ ਅੱਗ: ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੋਏ, ਸਰਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਆਵਜ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਣਕ ਦੀ ਵਾਢੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਅੱਗ ਲੱਗਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਵਧ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਾਵਰਕੌਮ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਟਰਾਂਸਫ਼ਾਰਮਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਸਾਵਧਾਨੀ ਵਰਤਣ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਣਕ ਦੀ ਵਾਢੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਅੱਗ ਲੱਗਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਵੱਡੀ ਚੁਣੌਤੀ ਬਣੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਹਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ, ਨਵਾਂਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਸੜੋਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਲਾਲਾਬਾਦ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਸਿਮਰੇਵਾਲਾ ਢਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ 50-50 ਏਕੜ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਅੱਗ ਦੀ ਭੇਟ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਈ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਟਰੈਕਟਰ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਵੀ ਅੱਗ 'ਚ ਝੁਲਸ ਗਏ। ਗੁਰੂਹਰਸਹਾਏ ਹਲਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ 100 ਏਕੜ ਅਤੇ ਕਲਾਨੌਰ ਲਾਗੇ 400 ਏਕੜ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਸੜੀ।
ਪਾਵਰਕੌਮ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਬਿਜਲੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਢਿੱਲੀਆਂ ਜਾਂ ਨੀਵੀਆਂ ਤਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਪਾਰਕਿੰਗ ਅੱਗ ਲੱਗਣ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਕਾਰਨ ਹਨ। 2015-16 ਤੋਂ 2024-25 ਤੱਕ, ਬਿਜਲੀ ਸਪਾਰਕ ਨਾਲ 2229 ਏਕੜ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਸੜੀ ਹੈ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਾਮਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਵਰਕੌਮ ਨੇ 1.60 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਮੁਆਵਜ਼ਾ ਰਾਸ਼ੀ ਅਸੈੱਸ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 1.34 ਕਰੋੜ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਵਰਕੌਮ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਵਧਾਨੀ ਵਰਤਣ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਟਰਾਂਸਫ਼ਾਰਮਰ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਮਰਲਾ ਕਣਕ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੱਟਣ ਅਤੇ 10 ਮੀਟਰ ਦੇ ਘੇਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਗਿੱਲਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਹਾਰਵੈਸਟਰ ਕੰਬਾਈਨ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਦਿਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਹੀ ਚਲਾਈ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਟਕਰਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਅ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਗ ਲੱਗਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮੁਆਵਜ਼ਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮੁਆਵਜ਼ਾ ਅਕਸਰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਦੀ ਭਰਪਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। ਲੋਕ ਹਿਤੈਸ਼ੀ ਸੱਥ ਬਠਿੰਡਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਕਰਨੈਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਮੁਆਵਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
During the wheat harvesting season in Punjab, incidents of crop fires have posed significant challenges for farmers. Recently, in the villages of Saroa (Nawanshahr) and Simrewala Dhani (Jalalabad), 50 acres of wheat crops were destroyed by fire in each location. In these incidents, two tractors were damaged, and two young individuals sustained burn injuries. Additionally, 100 acres of crops were burned in the Guru Har Sahai area, and 400 acres near Kalanaur were engulfed in flames.
According to officials from the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), loose or low-hanging electric wires and sparking are primary causes of these fires. Between 2015-16 and 2024-25, 2,229 acres of crops were destroyed due to electrical sparks. PSPCL assessed compensation amounting to ₹1.60 crore, out of which ₹1.34 crore has been disbursed to affected farmers.
PSPCL has advised farmers to exercise caution. They recommend pre-harvesting one marla (approximately 25 square meters) of wheat around transformers and maintaining a 10-meter wet radius to prevent fires from potential sparks. Harvesters should operate only during daylight hours, avoiding collisions with electric poles and wires.
These fire incidents have led to substantial financial losses for farmers. While the government provides compensation, it often falls short of covering the actual damages. Karnail Singh Mann, President of Lok Hiteshi Sath Bathinda, emphasized that the government should offer full compensation for the damaged crops.
