ਪੋਪ ਫਰਾਂਸਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵੈਟੀਕਨ 'ਚ ਸੋਗ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ
ਸੇਂਟ ਪੀਟਰਜ਼ ਸਕੁਏਅਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੋਪ ਫਰਾਂਸਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਤਾਬੂਤ ਪੋਪਮੋਬਾਈਲ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੇਂਟ ਮੈਰੀ ਮੇਜਰ ਬੇਸਿਲਿਕਾ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਮੈਗਨੀਫਿਕੇਟ ਦੀ ਧੁਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈ। ਪੋਪ ਨੂੰ "ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੋਪ" ਆਖ ਕੇ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਪੋਪ ਫਰਾਂਸਿਸ (Pope Francis) ਦਾ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਸ਼ਨਿੱਚਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੈਟੀਕਨ ਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਸੇਂਟ ਪੀਟਰਜ਼ ਸਕੁਏਅਰ (St. Peter’s Square) ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਇਆ। ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਰਸਮੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਸੇਂਟ ਪੀਟਰਜ਼ ਬੇਸਿਲਿਕਾ (St. Peter’s Basilica) ਦੀਆਂ ਘੰਟੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਧੁਨੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈ, ਜੋ ਲਗਭਗ 2 ਘੰਟੇ 10 ਮਿੰਟ ਦੀ ਲੰਬੀ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਸੇਵਾ ਪੂਰਣ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੀ ਸੀ।
ਰੋਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਲੋਕ ਕਤਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨਪਸੰਦ ਪੋਪ ਨੂੰ ਅਖੀਰਲੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਵਿਦਾ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਪੋਪ ਦਾ ਤਾਬੂਤ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਪੋਪਮੋਬਾਈਲ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਮੋਟਰਸਾਈਕਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਫਲੇ ਨੇ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਹ ਪੋਪਮੋਬਾਈਲ ਉਹੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ 2015 ਵਿੱਚ ਫਿਲੀਪੀਨਜ਼ ਦੌਰੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵਰਤੀ ਸੀ।
ਤਾਬੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਟਾਈਬਰ ਦਰਿਆ (River Tiber) ਦੇ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਕੇ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਚਰਚ, ਬੇਸਿਲਿਕਾ ਡੀ ਸਾਂਤਾ ਮਾਰੀਆ ਮੈਗੀਓਰ (Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore) ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹ ਓਹੀ ਥਾਂ ਸੀ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਪੋਪ ਅਕਸਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਕੋਲੋਸੀਅਮ (Colosseum) ਕੋਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਰਾਹੀ ਹੋਈ।
ਵੈਟੀਕਨ ਨੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ 250,000 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੋਪ ਫਰਾਂਸਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਵਿਦਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਮਗਨੀਫਿਕੇਟ (Magnificat) ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈ, ਜੋ ਬਲੈੱਸਡ ਵਰਜਿਨ ਮੈਰੀ (Blessed Virgin Mary) ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਰਡੀਨਲ ਬੈਟਿਸਟਾ ਰੇ ਨੇ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੋਪ ਫਰਾਂਸਿਸ ਨੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੁਣੌਤੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਮਝ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੀਧਾ ਛੂਹਿਆ। ਉਹ ਸੱਚਮੁਚ ‘ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੋਪ’ ਸਨ।
The funeral ceremony of Pope Francis took place on Saturday at the famous St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City. The official rites commenced with the resonating bells of St. Peter’s Basilica, marking the completion of a nearly 2-hour 10-minute service.
Thousands lined the streets of Rome to bid their final farewell to their beloved Pope. The white popemobile, escorted by a convoy of motorcycles, carried the Pope's coffin. Interestingly, the popemobile used was the same one Pope Francis had traveled in during his 2015 trip to the Philippines.
The coffin crossed the River Tiber and was taken to the historic fifth-century Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, a place where Pope Francis often visited for prayers during his 12 years of papacy. His final journey also passed by the iconic Colosseum in Rome.
According to a statement by the Vatican, more than 250,000 people gathered to pay their respects during this significant event. The service concluded with the Canticle of the Blessed Virgin Mary, popularly known as the Magnificat, an essential hymn in the Catholic tradition.
During the final address, Cardinal Battista Re expressed that Pope Francis displayed deep empathy for humanity and the modern world's challenges, touching the hearts of countless people. He truly was the 'Pope of the People.'
