ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਬਾਦਲ ਨੇ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰਦਾਸਪੁਰ ਦੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਜਸ਼ਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਟਰੱਕ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਜਾਂਚ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਗਲਤ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲੱਗੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਬਾਦਲ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਮਰਿਆਦਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਦਕਿ ਬਾਦਲ ਨੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਹਾਦਸਾ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਜਾਂਚ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਨੇ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਰੱਕ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਏ ਗਏ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਧਾਰੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਜਸ਼ਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਜਾਂਚ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਦਾਸਪੁਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਦੀਨਾਨਗਰ ਨੇੜੇ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਸ਼ਾਲਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ 21 ਸਾਲਾ ਜਸ਼ਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਜੋ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੇ ਸੈਨ ਬਰਨਾਰਡੀਨੋ ਕਾਊਂਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਈ-10 ਫ੍ਰੀਵੇ 'ਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਅੱਠ ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਟੱਕਰ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਿੰਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਗ੍ਰੌਸ ਵੈਹੀਕੂਲਰ ਮੈਨਸਲਾਟਰ ਵਾਈਲ ਇੰਟੌਕਸੀਕੇਟਿਡ ਅਤੇ ਡਰੱਲਵਿੰਗ ਅੰਡਰ ਇਨਫਲੂਐਂਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਇੰਜੁਰੀ ਵਰਗੇ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਦਿਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਬਾਦਲ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਬਾਦਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਬਾਦਲ ਦੇ ਘਰ 'ਤੇ ਹੋਈ ਇਸ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਹਲਕਾ ਇੰਚਾਰਜ ਕਮਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਚਾਵਲਾ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ। ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਬਾਦਲ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜਸ਼ਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਇੱਕ ਮਿਹਨਤੀ, ਸੰਜੀਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ 'ਤੇ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਅਸਰ ਹੇਠ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗਲਤ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਟੌਕਸੀਕੌਲੌਜੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਗਲਤ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਸ਼ਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਰ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ ਮਰਿਆਦਾ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਕਰਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਬਾਦਲ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਟਰੱਕ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਮੌਤਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੌਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਮਦਰਦੀ ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰਪੱਖਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ। ਬਾਦਲ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਹੈਂਡਲ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਮਾਮਲਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਡਾ. ਐਸ. ਜੈਸ਼ੰਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਟੈਗ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਜਸ਼ਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਸ਼ਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਕਰਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਬਾਦਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਰ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਿਆਦਾ ਦਾ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੱਕ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਦਖ਼ਲ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਜਾਂਚ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਨਿਆਂ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ।
Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal has demanded an impartial probe into the case of Amritdhari Sikh youth Jashanpreet Singh, who has been accused in a US truck crash. The 21-year-old from Purana Shala village near Dinanagar in Gurdaspur district was arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence causing injury after an eight-vehicle collision on the I-10 Freeway in San Bernardino County, US, which killed three people and injured four. His family met with Sukhbir Badal today to seek justice.
During the meeting at Badal's residence in Badal village, Akali Dal's constituency in-charge Kamaljit Singh Chawla was also present. The family told Badal that Jashanpreet is a hardworking, serious, and religious young man, and the allegation of being under the influence of drugs is completely false. They stated that the toxicology reports have been prepared incorrectly and need to be re-investigated. The family condemned the publication of Jashanpreet's photos without a turban in the US court as a violation of Sikh maryada and demanded it be stopped.
Sukhbir Badal expressed grief over the deaths in this truck crash and extended condolences to the bereaved families. He appealed to US authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the entire matter. Badal tagged India's External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on his social media handle, appealing to ensure the protection of Jashanpreet Singh's rights. He described the presentation of Jashanpreet's photos without a turban in court as deeply distressing and a violation of Sikh identity. Badal said that every Sikh youth living abroad has full right to the respect of their identity and maryada.
The incident is also being discussed in Punjab, and the family has demanded intervention from the Indian government so that an impartial probe can take place and no injustice occurs.
