ਆਪ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਮਨਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਾਲਪੁਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਈ ਕੋਰਟ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਝਟਕਾ, ਚਾਰ ਸਾਲ ਸਜ਼ਾ 'ਤੇ ਰੋਕ ਲਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਿਆਣਾ ਹਾਈ ਕੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਮਨਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਾਲਪੁਰਾ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ 'ਤੇ ਰੋਕ ਲਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਰੱਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਧਾਇਕੀ ਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਮਾਮਲਾ 2013 ਦੇ ਛੇੜਛਾੜ ਅਤੇ ਹਮਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਰਨਤਾਰਨ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਰ ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਸੀ। ਹੁਣ ਲਾਲਪੁਰਾ ਸੁਪਰੀਮ ਕੋਰਟ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਖਡੂਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਿਮਨੀ ਚੋਣ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਵਧ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਿਆਣਾ ਹਾਈ ਕੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਖਡੂਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਮਨਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਾਲਪੁਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਝਟਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਹਾਈ ਕੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਹੇਠਲੀ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਗਈ ਚਾਰ ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ 'ਤੇ ਰੋਕ ਲਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਲਾਲਪੁਰਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਾਇਰ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਨਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਾਲਪੁਰਾ ਦੀ ਵਿਧਾਇਕੀ ਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਖਡੂਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਹਲਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਿਮਨੀ ਚੋਣ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਵਧ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਮਨਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਾਲਪੁਰਾ ਹੁਣ ਸੁਪਰੀਮ ਕੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਪੀਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਇਹ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਲਗਭਗ ਇੱਕ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਲ 2013 ਵਿੱਚ ਤਰਨਤਾਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਆਹ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਈ ਇੱਕ ਔਰਤ ਨਾਲ ਛੇੜਛਾੜ ਅਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਫਾੜੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਤਕ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਬੇਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਮਨਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਾਲਪੁਰਾ ਟੈਕਸੀ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਇਸ ਹਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲੱਗਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਨਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਾਲਪੁਰਾ ਸਮੇਤ ਕਈ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ 12 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਤਰਨਤਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਜੱਜ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ 12 ਸਤੰਬਰ 2025 ਨੂੰ ਮਨਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਾਲਪੁਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਰ ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਕੈਦ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਲਾਲਪੁਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹੁਣ ਵੀ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ। ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਇੱਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਸੀ।
ਸਿਆਸੀ ਹਲਕਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਫੈਸਲੇ 'ਤੇ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਟਿਕੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ। ਹੁਣ ਖਡੂਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਹਲਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਿਮਨੀ ਚੋਣ ਹੋਣੀ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਹ ਵੇਖਣਾ ਬਾਕੀ ਹੈ। ਮਨਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਾਲਪੁਰਾ ਨੇ 2022 ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਡੂਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੀਟ ਤੋਂ ਜਿੱਤ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਲਈ ਵੱਡਾ ਝਟਕਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has given a major shock to Aam Aadmi Party MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpura from Khadoor Sahib. The High Court has refused to stay the four-year sentence given by the lower court and dismissed the petition filed by Lalpura. With this decision, Manjinder Singh Lalpura's MLA position is in danger and the possibility of a by-election in Khadoor Sahib constituency has increased. However, Manjinder Singh Lalpura can now appeal to the Supreme Court.
This is a case almost a decade old. In 2013, in Tarn Taran, a woman who came to a wedding event was molested and assaulted. Her clothes were torn and she was publicly humiliated. At that time, Manjinder Singh Lalpura was a taxi driver and was accused of leading this attack. In this case, Manjinder Singh Lalpura along with several police personnel and 12 others were found guilty. The Tarn Taran District and Sessions Judge court sentenced Manjinder Singh Lalpura to four years imprisonment on September 12, 2025. After that, Lalpura was sent to jail and he is still in jail. During the case, one police personnel died.
Political circles were keeping an eye on this decision. Now it remains to be seen whether there will be a by-election in Khadoor Sahib or not. Manjinder Singh Lalpura had won the Khadoor Sahib seat in the 2022 assembly elections. This decision is being seen as a big blow to the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab.
