Yes, there’s a realistic chance that by 2028–2029 the Indian Premier League could become close to a 3-month tournament.
IPL chairman Arun Dhumal has already said the BCCI is considering expanding the league from 74 matches to 94 matches in the next media-rights cycle starting in 2028. 
A 94-match format would likely mean:
• Every team plays every other team home & away
• More double-headers
• A longer tournament window, potentially around 10–12 weeks
So by 2029, a season running roughly from early March to late May or even June is definitely possible if the international calendar allows it.
