ਜੁਲਾਈ ਦੇ ਹਮਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕੈਫੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਪਰ 20 ਜੁਲਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਮੁੜ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹਿਆ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਸਿੱਖਸ ਫਾਰ ਜਸਟਿਸ (SFJ) ਦੇ ਨੇਤਾ ਗੁਰਪਤਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੰਨੂ ਨੇ ਕਪਿਲ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਧਮਕੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ “ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਖੇਡ ਦਾ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ” ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਾਪਸ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਸਰੀ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਬੂਤ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
In less than a month, the KAP'S Cafe, owned by Bollywood actor and comedian Kapil Sharma in Surrey, British Columbia, was attacked for the second time with gunfire in the early hours. According to local residents, the shooting took place at 4:30 AM at the cafe located near 85 Avenue and Scott Road. Surrey Police confirmed that multiple shots were fired, damaging the cafe’s windows and building, but no injuries were reported. The Surrey Police’s Frontline Investigative Support (FLIS) team, along with the Delta Police Department, is investigating the incident.
Gangster Goldy Dhillon, who claims affiliation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, took responsibility for the attack via social media. In an unverified post, he stated, “We called Kapil Sharma, but he didn’t respond, so we had to take action. If he still doesn’t respond, we will take further action in Mumbai.” A local resident, Bob Singh, reported hearing five to six gunshots and seeing police arrive afterward. Another resident claimed to have heard eight gunshots, noting that the area was cordoned off with emergency vehicles.
A similar attack occurred on July 10 at around 1:50 AM, when multiple shots were fired at KAP'S Cafe, leaving nine to twelve bullet holes in the windows. At that time, Harjit Singh Ladi, a Germany-based operative of the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and a wanted terrorist on India’s NIA list, claimed responsibility. Surrey Police have not yet confirmed that claim. KAP'S Cafe issued a statement on Instagram, saying, “We opened this cafe to bring warmth and community through coffee and conversation, but this violence is heartbreaking. We will not give up and will move forward stronger.”
Following the July attack, the cafe was temporarily closed but reopened on July 20. Additionally, Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, a controversial leader of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), had threatened Kapil Sharma, stating, “Canada is not your playground,” and asked him to return to India. Surrey Police stated that they are thoroughly investigating the incident and collecting all evidence.
