ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਊਜ਼ ਐਵੇਨਿਊ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ 1984 ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਦੰਗਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਜਣ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਦੇ ਕੇਸ ਦੀ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੁਣਵਾਈ 29 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ, 2025 ਨੂੰ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਸੱਜਣ ਕੁਮਾਰ ’ਤੇ ਜਨਕਪੁਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਸਪੁਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ’ਤੇ ਲੱਗੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਲਤ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਲਈ ਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਊਜ਼ ਐਵੇਨਿਊ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਸੰਸਦ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਸੱਜਣ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ 1984 ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਦੰਗਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਬਹਿਸ ਲਈ ਕੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਚੀਬੱਧ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਕੇਸ ਦੀ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੁਣਵਾਈ 29 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ, 2025 ਨੂੰ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਸੱਜਣ ਕੁਮਾਰ ’ਤੇ ਜਨਕਪੁਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਸਪੁਰੀ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਰਜ ਐਫਆਈਆਰਜ਼ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ 1984 ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਦੰਗਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਹਨ। ਜਨਕਪੁਰੀ ਮਾਮਲਾ 1 ਨਵੰਬਰ, 1984 ਨੂੰ ਸੋਹਣ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਈ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਕਤਲ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ, ਵਿਕਾਸਪੁਰੀ ਮਾਮਲਾ 2 ਨਵੰਬਰ, 1984 ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਚਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਜੱਜ ਡੀਆਈਜੀ ਵਿਨੈ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਸੱਜਣ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਕੀਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਚਾਅ ਪੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਬੂਤ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਬਹਿਸ ਲਈ ਸੂਚੀਬੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ। ਸੱਜਣ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ 7 ਜੁਲਾਈ, 2025 ਨੂੰ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ 1984 ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਦੰਗਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ’ਤੇ ਲੱਗੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਲਤ ਦੱਸਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਦੰਗਿਆਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਝੂਠਾ ਫਸਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਜ਼ਿਸ਼ ਅਧੀਨ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। 1984 ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਦੰਗਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਚਰਚਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਕੇਸ ਦੰਗਿਆਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹੋਏ ਅੱਤਿਆਚਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੈ। ਅਦਾਲਤ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has scheduled the final arguments for the case against former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The final hearing for this case is set for October 29, 2025. Sajjan Kumar faces charges linked to FIRs registered at Janakpuri and Vikas Puri police stations concerning the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The Janakpuri case pertains to the murder of two Sikhs, Sohan Singh and his son-in-law Avatar Singh, on November 1, 1984. Similarly, the Vikas Puri case is related to the incident of setting Gurucharan Singh on fire on November 2, 1984.
Special Judge DIG Vinay Singh listed the case for final arguments after the defense, represented by Sajjan Kumar’s lawyer, presented its evidence. On July 7, 2025, Sajjan Kumar recorded his statement in court, denying all allegations against him in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case. He told the court that he was not present at the location of the riots and has been falsely implicated in the case. He claimed that he was targeted as part of a conspiracy. This 1984 anti-Sikh riots case has generated significant discussion within the Sikh community in Punjab and Delhi, as it is linked to the atrocities committed during the riots. The court’s decision is expected to strengthen the hope for justice in this matter.
