ਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਧੀ ਦਾ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਾ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਗੂੜ੍ਹੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ। ਮਾਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਜਨਮ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਧੀ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਲਾਹਕਾਰ ਵੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਵਿਆਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਹ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਾ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਧੀ ਹੁਣ ਖੁਦ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਸਥੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਸੰਭਾਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਤਿਆਗ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਸਮਝਦੀ ਹੈ। ਭਾਵੇਂ ਧੀ ਸਹੁਰੇ ਘਰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਨਵੀਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਦਮ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸਦੀ ਰੂਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੇਕੇ ਘਰ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੇ ਦਰਦ ਅਕਸਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮਾਂ ਦੁਖੀ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਪਰ ਮਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਧੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਖਾਮੋਸ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਦ ਵੀ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
