ਗਣਤੰਤਰ ਦਿਵਸ 2026 ਦੀ ਪੂਰਵ ਸੰਧਿਆ 'ਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਵੱਕਾਰੀ 'ਪਦਮ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰਾਂ' ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਇਹ ਸਨਮਾਨ 'ਪੀਪਲਜ਼ ਪਦਮ' ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ 45 ਅਜਿਹੇ ਗੁਮਨਾਮ ਨਾਇਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਦਮ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਵਾਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਨਿਰਸਵਾਰਥ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਚਰਚਾ ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਆਈਪੀਐਸ (IPS) ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾਮੁਕਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਾਈਕਲ 'ਤੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕੂੜਾ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦੀ ਸਫ਼ਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਵਿਲੱਖਣ ਪਹਿਲਕਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਸਾਬਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਮਾਜ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਲਕਿ ਜਜ਼ਬੇ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
