In a tragic incident in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, 21-year-old Indian student Harsimrat Kaur Randhawa from Goindwal Sahib lost her life after being struck by a stray bullet. A student at Mohawk College, she was waiting at a bus stop on her way to work when gunfire erupted between occupants of two vehicles. A bullet hit her chest, and despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
According to Hamilton Police, a passenger in a black Mercedes SUV fired shots at a white sedan. The gunfire also damaged a nearby home's window, though no residents were injured. Authorities are investigating the homicide and have appealed to the public for dashcam or security footage from the area between 7:15 PM and 7:45 PM.
This marks the fourth death of an Indian student in Canada within the past four months, raising concerns within the Indian community. The Consulate General of India in Toronto expressed deep sorrow over Harsimrat's death and is providing assistance to her family.
