ਉੱਤਰਕਾਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਹਰਸ਼ਿਲ ’ਚ ਬੱਦਲ ਫਟਣ ਨਾਲ ਹੜ੍ਹ, 10 ਫੌਜੀ ਲਾਪਤਾ
ਉੱਤਰਕਾਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਹਰਸ਼ਿਲ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ 5 ਅਗਸਤ 2025 ਨੂੰ ਬੱਦਲ ਫਟਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਆਏ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਨੇ ਧਾਰਲੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਾਹੀ ਮਚਾਈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ 10 ਫੌਜੀ ਜਵਾਨ ਲਾਪਤਾ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋਈ। ਭਾਰਤੀ ਫੌਜ, ਐੱਨਡੀਆਰਐੱਫ ਅਤੇ ਆਈਟੀਬੀਪੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਬਚਾਅ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁਟੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮੌਸਮ ਦੀ ਖਰਾਬੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਵਧ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਰਾਹਤ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਲਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਦਾ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਉੱਤਰਕਾਸ਼ੀ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਹਰਸ਼ਿਲ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੱਦਲ ਫਟਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਆਏ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਨੇ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਤਬਾਹੀ ਮਚਾਈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਾਰਲੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਨੇੜੇ ਇੱਕ ਫੌਜੀ ਕੈਂਪ ’ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ 10 ਫੌਜੀ ਜਵਾਨ ਲਾਪਤਾ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਇਹ ਘਟਨਾ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ 1:45 ਵਜੇ ਵਾਪਰੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਖੀਰ ਗੰਗਾ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਉਪਰੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੱਦਲ ਫਟਣ ਨਾਲ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਪਾਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਲਬੇ ਦਾ ਵਹਾਅ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਇਆ। ਇਸ ਨੇ ਧਾਰਲੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਘਰ, ਹੋਟਲ, ਦੁਕਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜੋ ਗੰਗੋਤਰੀ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂਆਂ ਲਈ ਮੁੱਖ ਠਹਿਰਾਅ ਵਾਲੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ। ਸਥਾਨਕ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, 20-25 ਹੋਟਲ ਅਤੇ ਗੈਸਟ ਹਾਊਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਅਤੇ ਚਾਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਭਾਰਤੀ ਫੌਜ ਨੇ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ 150 ਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਅ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ, ਜੋ ਘਟਨਾ ਵਾਪਰਨ ਦੇ 10 ਮਿੰਟਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੌਕੇ ’ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਈ। ਫੌਜ ਦੀ ਸੂਰਿਆ ਕਮਾਂਡ ਅਤੇ ਆਈਬੈਕਸ ਬ੍ਰਿਗੇਡ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਖਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਸ਼ਿਲ ਦੀ ਫੌਜੀ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਲਾਜ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ 15-20 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ 50 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਲੋਕ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਲਾਪਤਾ ਹਨ। ਐੱਨਡੀਆਰਐੱਫ, ਐੱਸਡੀਆਰਐੱਫ ਅਤੇ ਆਈਟੀਬੀਪੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਵੀ ਬਚਾਅ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁਟੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਭਾਰਤੀ ਹਵਾਈ ਸੈਨਾ ਨੇ ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ, ਸਰਸਾਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਰੇਲੀ ਏਅਰਬੇਸ ਤੋਂ ਮਿ-17, ਚਿਨੂਕ ਅਤੇ ਏਐੱਲਐੱਚ ਹੈਲੀਕਾਪਟਰ ਤਿਆਰ ਰੱਖੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮੌਸਮ ਦੀ ਖਰਾਬੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹ ਅਜੇ ਉਡਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਰ ਸਕੇ।
ਉੱਤਰਾਖੰਡ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਕਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਾਮੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੂੰ “ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ” ਦੱਸਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਹਤ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਮੋਦੀ, ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਮਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਰਾਜਨਾਥ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਦਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ 6 ਤੋਂ 9 ਅਗਸਤ ਤੱਕ ਉੱਤਰਾਖੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰੀ ਮੀਂਹ ਦੀ ਚਿਤਾਵਨੀ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਚਾਅ ਕਾਰਜ ਹੋਰ ਔਖੇ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਥਾਨਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਭਾਗੀਰਥੀ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਢਿਆਂ ’ਤੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
A devastating cloudburst in the Harshil area of Uttarkashi district triggered severe floods, causing widespread destruction and leaving 10 Indian Army soldiers missing from a camp near Dharali village. The incident occurred around 1:45 PM when a cloudburst in the upper catchment area of the Kheer Ganga river led to a sudden surge of water and debris. This ravaged Dharali village, a key stopover for pilgrims heading to Gangotri, destroying several homes, hotels, shops, and roads. According to locals, 20-25 hotels and guesthouses were completely swept away, and four deaths have been confirmed.
The Indian Army swiftly responded by deploying a team of 150 personnel, reaching the site within 10 minutes of the incident. The Army’s Surya Command and Ibex Brigade began evacuating civilians to safe locations and transporting the injured to the military hospital in Harshil. So far, 15-20 people have been rescued, but over 50 individuals remain missing. Teams from the NDRF, SDRF, and ITBP are also actively engaged in relief operations. The Indian Air Force has kept Mi-17, Chinook, and ALH helicopters on standby at Chandigarh, Sarsawa, and Bareilly airbases, but adverse weather conditions have prevented them from taking off.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami called the incident “deeply distressing” and assured that the state government is closely monitoring relief efforts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke with the Chief Minister, pledging full central government support. The India Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Uttarakhand from August 6 to 9, which may further complicate rescue operations. Local police have urged residents along the Bhagirathi river to move to safer locations.
