ਬਠਿੰਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਕ ਕਮਲ ਕੌਰ ਭਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਕਤਲ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਨੇ ਦੋ ਮੁਲਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਦੋ ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਦਕਿ ਮੁੱਖ ਸਾਜ਼ਿਸ਼ਕਰਤਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਪਾਲ ਮਹਿਰੋਂ ਫਰਾਰ ਹੈ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਪਾਲ ਨੇ ਕਤਲ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਸ਼ਲੀਲ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਪੋਸਟ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਸ਼ਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕਿਰਿਆਵਾਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਬਹਿਸ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਬਠਿੰਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਕ ਕੰਚਨ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਲ ਕੌਰ ਭਾਬੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਵੀ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਦੇ ਕਤਲ ਕੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਨੇ ਦੋ ਮੁਲਜ਼ਮਾਂ, ਜਸਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਮਰਤਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਦੋ ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ। ਦੋਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੁੱਕਰਵਾਰ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਬਠਿੰਡਾ ਦੇ ਐੱਸਐੱਸਪੀ ਅਮਨੀਤ ਕੌਂਡਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਮੁਲਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੁੱਛਗਿੱਛ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਸਾਜ਼ਿਸ਼ਕਰਤਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਹਿਰੋਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਅਜੇ ਫਰਾਰ ਹੈ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਪਾਲ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਕਮਲ ਕੌਰ ਦੇ ਕਤਲ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਸ਼ਲੀਲ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਪੋਸਟ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਕਮਲ ਕੌਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੀਡੀਓਜ਼ ਸਿੱਖ ਪਰੰਪਰਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਪਮਾਨ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
ਇਸ ਕਤਲ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਹੰਗ ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕਿਰਿਆਵਾਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਕੁਝ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਠਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਹੰਗਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਪਾਲ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਦਕਿ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਵੈ-ਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਬੇਰਹਿਮ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ’ਤੇ ਵੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਿਸ਼ਰਤ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਮੋਰਲ ਪੁਲੀਸਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਹੱਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਕ, ਦੀਪਿਕਾ ਲੁਥਰਾ, ਨੇ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਪਾਲ ਮਹਿਰੋਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਧਮਕੀਆਂ ਮਿਲੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, "ਮੈਂ ਸਧਾਰਨ ਵੀਡੀਓਜ਼ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੁਆਫੀ ਮੰਗ ਲਈ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਸ਼ਲੀਲ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਪੋਸਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ।"

The Bathinda police have arrested two accused, Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh, in the murder case of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, popularly known as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, and secured a two-day police custody after presenting them in court on Friday evening. Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal stated that the Punjab police are interrogating the accused and intensifying efforts to locate the mastermind, Amritpal Singh Mehron, who remains absconding. Mehron released a video on Friday claiming responsibility for the Kamal Kaur murder, citing moral policing and warning other social media influencers against posting obscene content, alleging that Kamal Kaur’s videos disrespected Sikh community traditions.

While some Sikh organizations and Nihangs have supported Mehron’s stance, others have strongly condemned the act as brutal vigilantism, unacceptable under any circumstances. Social media users have expressed mixed opinions, with some favoring moral policing and others opposing it. Meanwhile, another social media influencer from Amritsar, Deepika Luthra, claimed she received threats from Mehron, stating, “I make simple videos and have a five-month-old child, so I’m scared. I had already apologized earlier and stopped posting objectionable content.”
