The Central Government has formed a special high-level investigation panel to probe the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. This panel, led by the Union Home Secretary, will investigate the primary accident causes, including mechanical failure, human error, weather conditions, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, it will recommend standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent future plane crashes and enhance aviation safety. The Ministry of Civil Aviation clarified that this investigation panel is separate from the ongoing probe by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).
On June 12, a Boeing 787-8 aircraft crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad airport, resulting in the tragic loss of 241 passengers and others. The high-level committee will thoroughly examine factors contributing to the plane crash, such as mechanical failure, human error, weather conditions, and adherence to regulatory compliance. The panel has been instructed to submit its report within three months, proposing safety reforms and measures to prevent future accidents. This initiative is expected to significantly strengthen aviation safety standards.
