ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਕ ਮਤਭੇਦ ਪਰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਸਾਂਝੀ: ਕੁੰਵਰ ਵਿਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ
ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਕੁੰਵਰ ਵਿਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਬਿਕਰਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਦੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਘਰ ’ਤੇ ਰੇਡ ਦੀ ਨਿਖੇਧੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ 2022 ਵਿੱਚ ਡਰੱਗ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਕਰਵਾਈ, ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਪੁੱਛਗਿੱਛ ਅਤੇ ਰੇਡ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਖਿਲਵਾੜ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕਰਮ ਕਾਰਨ ਆਪ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜ ਸਾਲ ਲਈ ਮੁਅੱਤਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਵਧਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ (ਆਪ) ਦੇ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਕੁੰਵਰ ਵਿਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਆਗੂ ਬਿਕਰਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਦੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰੀ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ’ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕਰਮ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ 2022 ਵਿੱਚ ਡਰੱਗ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ, ਤਾਂ ‘ਮਾਨ ਸਾਹਬ’ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਨਾ ਪੁੱਛਗਿੱਛ ਕੀਤੀ, ਨਾ ਚਲਾਨ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਬਰਗਾੜੀ ਬੇਅਦਬੀ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੇ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਸਮੇਂ ਵੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝੌਤਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕਰਮ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੀ ਕੁੰਵਰ ਵਿਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਪੰਜ ਸਾਲ ਲਈ ਮੁਅੱਤਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਸਰਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਉੱਤਰੀ ਹਲਕੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਕੁੰਵਰ ਵਿਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ 25 ਜੂਨ 2025 ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਫੇਸਬੁੱਕ ਪੋਸਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘‘ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਕ ਮਤਭੇਦ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ, ਪਰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਚਾਹੇ ਉਹ ਨੇਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਅਭਿਨੇਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਅਮੀਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਾਂ ਗਰੀਬ, ਦੋਸਤ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਾਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ। ਤੜਕੇ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਘਰ ’ਤੇ ਰੇਡ ਮਾਰਨਾ ਨੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਨੈਤਿਕਤਾ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਹੈ।’’ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਨੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਹਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਜੀਲੈਂਸ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਫਾਇਦੇ ਲਈ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ, ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਠੋਸ ਸਿੱਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘‘ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਮਤਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਕ ਵੱਖਰੇਵਾਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਨੀਤੀ, ਧਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਆਨਤਦਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।’’ ਕੁੰਵਰ ਵਿਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਫੇਸਬੁੱਕ ਪੋਸਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘‘ਜਦੋਂ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਦਰਜ ਹੋਏ ਡਰੱਗ ਮੁਕੱਦਮੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ, ਤਾਂ ਮਾਨ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਕੋਈ ਰਿਮਾਂਡ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆ, ਨਾ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਪੁੱਛਗਿੱਛ ਕੀਤੀ, ਅਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਤੰਤਰ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ।’’
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘‘ਹਾਈ ਕੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਆਧਾਰ ’ਤੇ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਗਿੱਛ ਲਈ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਸਟਡੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਸੀ।’’ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਨੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ, ‘‘ਜਦੋਂ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ, ਤਾਂ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੁੱਛਗਿੱਛ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਜ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ’ਤੇ ਰੇਡ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਖਿਲਵਾੜ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।’’
ਇਹ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਰੇਡ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਜੀਲੈਂਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਨੁਪਾਤਕ ਸੰਪਤੀ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਵਧਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਸਤ, ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨੈਤਿਕਤਾ ’ਤੇ ਸਵਾਲ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, reacting to the Punjab Vigilance Bureau’s raid and arrest of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia, stated that when Majithia was in jail in 2022 for a drug case, the ‘Mann Sahab’ government neither interrogated him nor presented a chargesheet, and facilitated his bail. He alleged that in the Bargari sacrilege case, the government compromised with the accused’s family. Due to these remarks, Kunwar Vijay Pratap was suspended from the AAP for five years, accused of engaging in anti-party activities related to Punjab politics.
The MLA from Amritsar North, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, posted on Facebook on June 25, 2025, stating, “I have ideological differences with Majithia, and they will remain, but family respect is universal, whether one is a leader, actor, rich, poor, friend, or foe. Conducting a raid on someone’s home early in the morning is against ethics and morality.” The former police officer accused successive governments of misusing the Punjab Police and Vigilance for political vendetta, yet yielding no concrete results.
He further said, “I may have political differences with someone, or ideological differences, but when it comes to ethics, faith, and integrity, discussion becomes essential.” In his Facebook post, Kunwar Vijay Pratap added, “When Majithia was in jail during the Congress government’s drug case, the Mann government did not take him into custody for interrogation, nor did they question him, and the state machinery facilitated his bail.”
He noted, “The High Court granted Majithia bail on the grounds that if the police did not need him for interrogation, keeping him in custody was against the law.” The MLA alleged, “When Majithia was in custody, the government facilitated his bail, but now they are issuing notices for interrogation and conducting raids on his home, disrespecting the family.”
This arrest and raid by the Punjab Vigilance in a disproportionate assets case have intensified political controversy. It has raised questions about Punjab politics, national security, and ethical governance.
