Major rallies were held today by pro-Palestinian supporters in various cities of Australia for lasting peace in Gaza Strip, with thousands participating. In Sydney, a rally starting from Hyde Park saw around 9,000 people join the march to Belmore Park. Protesters carried Palestinian and peace flags and raised slogans while beating drums. This rally is part of global solidarity movements demanding justice and freedom. Josh Lees, founder of the Palestine Action Group, said that they are protesting to end the genocide in Gaza and to urge the Australian government to impose sanctions on Israel. He added that they will continue to fight for a free Palestine and for self-determination, aid entry, and reconstruction in Gaza.

Although the New South Wales High Court did not permit a rally at the Sydney Opera House, the protesters gathered at Hyde Park and conducted a peaceful march. There was a heavy police presence, but the rally remained peaceful with no incidents. Palestinian Australian Shamikh Badra expressed hope that the ceasefire would allow him to bring his elderly mother from Gaza to Australia and search for his brother and family, but he is worried about the Trump plan imposed without consulting Palestinians. He said that they support efforts to end the genocide but still have concerns. Activist Juliet Lamont spoke about her arrest and torture by Israel while trying to deliver aid to Gaza but said that it is nothing compared to the suffering of Palestinians in prisons.

A large rally also took place in Melbourne where thousands participated and raised slogans against famine and genocide in Gaza. Emily Saif said that Gaza is completely destroyed and people are dying of hunger; these conditions have not stopped. In Brisbane, about 1,000 people marched in the CBD carrying banners for free Palestine. In Canberra, Rana Tayara said that this is not a peace deal but peace in the ruins of Gaza, and Israel cannot be trusted. In Darwin, over 100 people held a peaceful rally on the Nightcliff foreshore, and Palestinian nurse Riyad Aladassi shared the story of his people in Gaza. In Albany, about 130 people rallied, and Greens MLC Jess Beckerling said that they do not trust Netanyahu and Trump, nor the plan putting Tony Blair in charge of Palestine.

Rateb Jneid, president of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, said that true peace cannot come without justice, and the world should not mistake silence for peace or see it as a permanent solution to the problem. Friends of Palestine WA said that these rallies are part of global solidarity demanding justice and freedom, and they do not trust Israel and Donald Trump because previous ceasefires were broken by Israel, and Trump remained silent while the genocide accelerated.
