In a post on X, she wrote, "I am dedicating this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause." This announcement came on the same day the Norwegian Nobel Committee revealed her as the winner, while Trump expressed disappointment over not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Maria Corina Machado received this award for her tireless efforts in promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle for a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy. She is one of the greatest examples of civilian courage in Latin America and has united Venezuela's divided opposition.

US President Donald Trump, during a conversation with the media at the White House, said that Maria Corina Machado called him and stated that she is accepting the prize in his honor because Trump deserved it. Trump said, "She said, 'I am accepting this in your honor because you truly deserve it.' However, I didn't say, 'Give it to me.' I have been helping her for a long time. They needed a lot of help in Venezuela during the disaster. I am happy because I saved millions of lives." Trump also claimed to have stopped seven wars under his administration and said that he should get a Nobel Peace Prize for each one. He linked the Ukraine-Russia conflict to his peace efforts and stated that he succeeded in stopping wars in regions like Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kosovo and Serbia, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, Rwanda and Congo.

However, we live in a world where democracy is receding, where more and more dictatorial regimes are challenging the rules and resorting to violence. Machado has worked for the freedom of the people of Venezuela for many years." The committee further said that Machado has shown that the means of democracy are also means of peace and she represents hope for a different future where citizens' fundamental rights are protected and their voices are heard. This prize meets all three criteria outlined in Alfred Nobel's will.

Maria Corina Machado, who is 58 years old, united the opposition in the 2024 elections and brought large numbers of people to the polls, but the regime announced its own victory and barred her from running. She is now living in hiding in Venezuela and fighting against Nicolas Maduro's regime.
