ਜੀ7 ਸੰਮੇਲਨ ਲਈ ਪੀਐਮ ਮੋਦੀ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਪੁੱਜੇ, ਕੈਲਗਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਵਾਗਤ

ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਮੋਦੀ ਜੀ7 ਸੰਮੇਲਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਕੈਲਗਰੀ ਪੁੱਜ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਸੰਮੇਲਨ ਅਲਬਰਟਾ ਦੇ ਨੇੜਲੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਕਨਾਨਸਕੀ ਵਿੱਚ 16 ਤੋਂ 17 ਜੂਨ, 2025 ਤੱਕ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਕੈਲਗਰੀ ਹਵਾਈ ਅੱਡੇ ’ਤੇ ਪੀਐਮ ਮੋਦੀ ਦਾ ਨਿੱਘਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਸੂਤਰਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਖਬਰ ਲਿਖੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੱਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਫਲਾ ਹਵਾਈ ਅੱਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਰਵਾਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਮੋਦੀ ਦੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ।

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Calgary, Canada, to participate in the G7 Summit held in Kananaskis, Alberta, from June 16 to 17, 2025. He was warmly welcomed at Calgary airport, but according to sources, his convoy had not left the airport at the time of reporting. No official details about PM Modi’s subsequent schedule were released.
Modi will travel by road from Calgary to Kananaskis, where he will attend G7 Summit sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. This marks his second visit to Canada as Prime Minister, following his 2015 trip to launch yoga camps. Invited by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Modi is attending the G7 Summit’s outreach session.
Canadian media provided minimal coverage of Modi’s arrival, and the Canadian government also remained silent on the matter. This could be due to protests by Khalistani extremists in Canada and the US, who demonstrated on roads leading to the summit venue. These Khalistani protests may have prompted Modi to arrive in Calgary at night to avoid disruptions.
At the G7 Summit, PM Modi will engage with world leaders, sign trade agreements, and discuss critical issues like energy security, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI). He will also emphasize the priorities of the Global South. US President Donald Trump, who is leaving the summit early due to the Israel-Iran conflict, may hold a bilateral meeting with Modi before departing. The summit offers a chance to strengthen India-Canada relations, which have been strained over the Khalistan issue in recent years.
