ਨੋਟਿਸ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਬਾਅਦ ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਲੋਕ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਮੋਰਚਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇੱਥੇ ਦਹਾਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਦੇ ਬਿੱਲ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ ਇਹ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦੇਣਗੇ।
ਰੋਸ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੜਕਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਜਾਮ ਲਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਸਥਾਨਕ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾੜਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੜ ਵਸੇਬੇ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ, ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਅਦਾਲਤੀ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
Tension gripped the town of Phillaur in Jalandhar district after the administration issued evacuation notices to over 300 houses and commercial establishments. According to administrative officials, these constructions are located on encroached government land, making their removal necessary.
Immediately following the receipt of notices, hundreds of affected residents gathered to launch a protest against the decision. Protesters alleged that they have lived there for decades and possess electricity bills and other legal documents. Residents argue that these sudden notices will completely destroy their livelihoods and homes.
Markets remained completely shut during the protests, and roads were blocked. Local leaders also condemned the drive, stating that the government should arrange for rehabilitation before uprooting people. On the other hand, the administration maintains that they are merely following court orders or government regulations.
