CISF ਦੀ ਗੀਤਾ ਸਮੋਤਾ ਨੇ ਮਾਊਂਟ ਐਵਰੈਸਟ ਸਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਰਚਿਆ
CISF ਦੀ ਸਬ-ਇੰਸਪੈਕਟਰ ਗੀਤਾ ਸਮੋਤਾ ਨੇ ਮਾਊਂਟ ਐਵਰੈਸਟ ਦੀ ਚੋਟੀ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਹ CISF ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਬਣੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਗੀਤਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਬਤਾਰੋਹਣ ਦੇ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਈ ਚੋਟੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ "ਸੈਵਨ ਸਮਿਟਸ" ਦੀ ਚੁਣੌਤੀ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਿਲਾਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਣਾ ਦਾ ਸਰੋਤ ਹੈ।
ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਉਦਯੋਗਿਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬਲ (CISF) ਦੀ ਸਬ-ਇੰਸਪੈਕਟਰ ਗੀਤਾ ਸਮੋਤਾ ਨੇ ਮਾਊਂਟ ਐਵਰੈਸਟ (8,849 ਮੀਟਰ) ਦੀ ਚੋਟੀ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਹ CISF ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਚੋਟੀ ਸਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। Facebook+1Facebook+1
ਗੀਤਾ ਸਮੋਤਾ ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ ਦੇ ਸੀਕਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਚੱਕ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ 2011 ਵਿੱਚ CISF ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪਰਬਤਾਰੋਹਣ ਦੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਦਮ ਰੱਖਿਆ। 2015 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਔਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ITBP ਦੀ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਪਰਬਤਾਰੋਹਣ ਕੋਰਸ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਇਕਲੌਤੀ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਸੀ।2017 ਵਿੱਚ ਐਡਵਾਂਸ ਕੋਰਸ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ CISF ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਕਰਮਚਾਰੀ ਬਣੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੀ।
2019 ਵਿੱਚ ਗੀਤਾ ਨੇ ਉਤਰਾਖੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਊਂਟ ਸਤੋਪੰਥ (7,075 ਮੀਟਰ) ਅਤੇ ਨੇਪਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਊਂਟ ਲੋਬੁਚੇ (6,119 ਮੀਟਰ) ਦੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਹਥਿਆਰਬੰਦ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਬਲ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਬਣੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਚੋਟੀਆਂ ਸਰ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ।
2021 ਵਿੱਚ ਐਵਰੈਸਟ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਰੱਦ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਗੀਤਾ ਨੇ "ਸੈਵਨ ਸਮਿਟਸ" ਦੀ ਚੁਣੌਤੀ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਰ ਮਹਾਂਦੀਪ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਚੋਟੀ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਸਟਰੇਲੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਊਂਟ ਕੋਸ਼ੀਅਸਕੋ (2,228 ਮੀਟਰ), ਰੂਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਊਂਟ ਐਲਬਰਸ (5,642 ਮੀਟਰ), ਤਨਜ਼ਾਨੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਊਂਟ ਕਿਲੀਮੰਜਾਰੋ (5,895 ਮੀਟਰ) ਅਤੇ ਅਰਜਨਟੀਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਊਂਟ ਅਕੋਂਕਾਗੁਆ (6,961 ਮੀਟਰ) ਦੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਅਤੇ 27 ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਤੇਜ਼ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਬਣੀ।
ਘਰ ਵਾਪਸੀ ਮਗਰੋਂ, ਗੀਤਾ ਨੇ ਲੱਦਾਖ ਦੇ ਰੂਪਸ਼ੂ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਿੰਨ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜ ਚੋਟੀਆਂ 'ਤਿੰਨ 6,000 ਮੀਟਰ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ 5,000 ਮੀਟਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ' ਦੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਨਵਾਂ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਕਾਇਮ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਗੀਤਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਈ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਫਾਰ ਵੂਮੈਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਦਿਵਸ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ 2023 ਅਤੇ ਸਿਵਲ ਏਵੀਏਸ਼ਨ ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ 'ਗਿਵਿੰਗ ਵਿੰਗਜ਼ ਟੂ ਡ੍ਰੀਮਜ਼ ਅਵਾਰਡ 2023' ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।
Sub-Inspector Geeta Samota of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has made history by becoming the first woman officer of the force to scale Mount Everest, the world's highest peak at 8,849 meters. Hailing from Chak village in Rajasthan's Sikar district, Geeta joined CISF in 2011 and embarked on her mountaineering journey. In 2015, she completed a basic mountaineering course at ITBP's training institute in Auli, being the only woman in her batch. By 2017, she became the first CISF personnel to complete the advanced course.
In 2019, Geeta became the first woman from any Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) to summit both Mount Satopanth (7,075 meters) in Uttarakhand and Mount Lobuche (6,119 meters) in Nepal.
After a planned Everest expedition in 2021 was canceled due to technical reasons, Geeta set her sights on the "Seven Summits" challenge, aiming to climb the highest peak on each continent. She successfully scaled Mount Kosciuszko (2,228 meters) in Australia, Mount Elbrus (5,642 meters) in Russia, Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters) in Tanzania, and Mount Aconcagua (6,961 meters) in Argentina within six months and 27 days, becoming the fastest Indian woman to achieve this feat.
Upon returning home, Geeta set a new record by climbing five peaks in Ladakh's Rupshu region within three days, including three peaks over 6,000 meters and two over 5,000 meters.
For her remarkable achievements, Geeta has been honored with several awards, including the International Women's Day Award 2023 by the Delhi Commission for Women and the "Giving Wings to Dreams Award 2023" by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
