ਆਸਟਰੇਲੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਵਾਸ ’ਤੇ ਰੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਨਸਲੀ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਰੈਲੀਆਂ
ਆਸਟਰੇਲੀਆ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਮੈਲਬਰਨ, ਬ੍ਰਿਸਬਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੈਨਬਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੂਲ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਵਾਸ ’ਤੇ ਰੋਕ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਰੈਲੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ, ਜਦਕਿ ਪਰਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਨਸਲੀ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਸਖਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ। ਮੂਲ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਆਵਾਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਕਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਮੀ, ਮਹਿੰਗਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰੀ ਵਧੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ 2025-26 ਲਈ 185,000 ਸਥਾਈ ਵੀਜ਼ਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਸਟਰੇਲੀਆ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਮੈਲਬਰਨ, ਬ੍ਰਿਸਬਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੈਨਬਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੂਲ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਵਾਸ ’ਤੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਰੋਕ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਰੈਲੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪਰਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਖਰੀਆਂ ਰੈਲੀਆਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਨਸਲੀ ਟਿੱਪਣੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸਖਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਸਿਡਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਵਾਸ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਰੈਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਆਗੂ ਮਾਈਕਲ ਬਰਾਊਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੋਟ ਬੈਂਕ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਸਤ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਵੇਂ ਪਰਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਣ ਦੀ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਕਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਮੀ, ਕਿਰਾਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਧਾ, ਬੇਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰੀ, ਸੜਕਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਭੀੜ, ਜਨਤਕ ਆਵਾਜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਿੰਗਾਈ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਵਧੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਆਸਟਰੇਲੀਆ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ-ਸਹਿਣ ਦੇ ਮਿਆਰ ’ਤੇ ਬੁਰਾ ਅਸਰ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਅਗਲੇ ਪੰਜ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਲਈ ਨਵੇਂ ਪਰਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਆਮਦ ’ਤੇ ਰੋਕ ਲਗਾਈ ਜਾਵੇ।
ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ, ਪਰਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਵਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਨਸਲੀ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਖਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਰੋਕਣ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਆਸਟਰੇਲੀਆ ਦੀ ਸਭਿਅਤਾ ਪਰਵਾਸ ’ਤੇ ਹੀ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਵਾਸੀ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਨਸਲੀ ਵਿਤਕਰਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਸਲੀ ਟਿੱਪਣੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਸਖਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਆਸਟਰੇਲੀਆ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਟੋਨੀ ਬੁਰਕ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਆਵਾਸ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਮੁਲਕ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਗ ’ਤੇ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਵਾਸ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਰੈਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਰਜ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ 2025-26 ਵਿੱਚ 185,000 ਸਥਾਈ ਵੀਜ਼ੇ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਬਦਲਾਅ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਇਹ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕੋਵਿਡ ਮਹਾਮਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਧੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਹੈ।
In Australia’s major cities of Melbourne, Brisbane, and Canberra, indigenous residents held rallies demanding a complete ban on immigration. Meanwhile, immigrants organized separate rallies calling for strict action against racial discrimination and comments.
Addressing an anti-immigration rally in Sydney, leader Michael Brown stated that the government is allowing new immigrants for vote-bank politics, which has strained Australia’s infrastructure. He highlighted issues like housing shortages, rising rents, unemployment, overcrowded public transport, and inflation, which have severely impacted the standard of living in Australia. Brown demanded a five-year ban on new immigrants to address these challenges.
On the other hand, immigrants called for increased immigration and strict measures to curb rising incidents of racial discrimination. They argued that Australia’s foundation is built on immigration, and discriminating against immigrants or making racial comments violates the law. They demanded strong action against those making racist remarks.
Australia’s Home Minister Tony Burke clarified that the immigration intake is lower than before and is based on the country’s needs and demands. He dismissed the anti-immigration rallies, stating that the government has announced 185,000 permanent visas for 2025-26, unchanged from the previous financial year. However, this number is significantly lower than the increased demands post-COVID pandemic.
