ਆਈਸੀਸੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਚੈਂਪੀਅਨਜ਼ ਟਰਾਫੀ 2025 ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇਹ ਰੈਂਕਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਬਦਲਾਅ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਦੂਜੀ ਵਾਰ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਭਮਨ ਗਿੱਲ ਨੇ ਨੰਬਰ 1 ਦਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪਿਛਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ 2023 ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਕੱਪ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਬਾਬਰ ਆਜ਼ਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਸੀ।

Indian vice-captain Shubman Gill has achieved the No. 1 ODI batting ranking in the latest ICC rankings, surpassing Pakistan's Babar Azam. His stellar performance against England in the home series, including two half-centuries and a century, helped him reach 796 rating points, pushing Babar Azam to second place with 773 points. Indian captain Rohit Sharma holds the third position with 761 points.
ICC stated that this ranking change is significant ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This is the second time Shubman Gill has secured the No. 1 spot, as he had previously overtaken Babar Azam during the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's Mahesh Theekshana has replaced Afghanistan's Rashid Khan as the No. 1 bowler in ICC rankings. Theekshana's strong performance against Australia in a recent series contributed to his 680 rating points. India's Kuldeep Yadav stands at fourth place, while Pakistan's Shaheen Shah Afridi is at fifth.
