The international advocacy group UNITED SIKHS has now stepped in, preparing to take legal action against what the student’s family is calling discriminatory policies.
The Director of UNITED SIKHS Australia, Gurvinder Singh, has shared some critical information exchanged between the student, her parents and the school principal, revealing the conflicting perspectives: while the family views the suspension as 'religious discrimination', the school insists it is enforcing its 'uniform policy' of not permitting the jewellery items.

ਤਾਜਾ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਸਿਡਨੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਸਡਨ ਪਾਰਕ ਵਿਚਲੇ ਇੱਕ ਈਸਾਈ ਸਕੂਲ ਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ 10ਵੀਂ ਜਮਾਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣ ਨੂੰ ਕੜ੍ਹੇ ਦੀ ਵਜਾਹ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਤੋਂ ਸਸਪੇਂਡ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਯੂਨਾਇਟੇਡ ਸਿੱਖਸ ਹੁਣ ਇਸ ਕੇਸ ਦੀ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਪੈਰਵੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਖਿੱਚ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਅਨ ਚੈਪਟਰ ਦੇ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਗੁਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਸਿਲਸਿਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਹੋਈਆਂ 'ਈਮੇਲਜ਼' ਰੇਡੀਓ ਹਾਂਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਪੁਰਦ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਤਾ ਚਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪੀੜ੍ਹਤ ਸਿੱਖ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਇਸਨੂੰ 'ਭੇਦਭਾਵ' ਵਾਲੀ ਨੀਤੀ ਗਰਦਾਨ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜਦਕਿ ਸਕੂਲ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਦੀ 'ਵਰਦੀ ਪਾਲਿਸੀ' ਤਹਿਤ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
