ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ 'ਤੇ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਮੌਸਮ, ਸੰਘਣੀ ਧੁੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹਵਾਵਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਹਵਾਈ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਬੁਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਅੱਜ ਲਗਭਗ 20 ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਜੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਡਾਇਵਰਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਯਾਤਰੀ ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ 'ਤੇ ਫਸ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਾਰੀ ਅਲਰਟ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਜ਼ੀਬਿਲਟੀ ਘੱਟ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਲੈਂਡਿੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਟੇਕ-ਆਫ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰੀ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ
ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ 'ਤੇ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਮੌਸਮ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਘਣੀ ਧੁੰਦ ਨੇ ਹਵਾਈ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਅੱਜ ਲਗਭਗ 20 ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਪਈਆਂ। ਉੱਤਰੀ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈ ਰਹੇ ਮੀਂਹ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹਵਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਸਵੇਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਛਾਈ ਸੰਘਣੀ ਧੁੰਦ ਕਾਰਨ ਰਨਵੇ 'ਤੇ ਵਿਜ਼ੀਬਿਲਟੀ ਦਾ ਪੱਧਰ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਗਿਰ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਲੈਂਡਿੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਟੇਕ-ਆਫ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਸੰਭਵ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਮਾਪਦੰਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਦਿਆਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ, ਮੁੰਬਈ, ਬੈਂਗਲੁਰੂ ਅਤੇ ਹੈਦਰਾਬਾਦ ਵਰਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਹੀ ਰੱਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਕਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਮੌਸਮ ਕਾਰਨ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਜਾਂ ਜੈਪੁਰ ਵਰਗੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕੀ ਹਵਾਈ ਅੱਡਿਆਂ ਵੱਲ ਡਾਇਵਰਟ ਵੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ। ਸਵੇਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਰਵਾਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਕਈ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਡਿਊਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਦੇਰੀ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਨਾ ਸੁਧਰਨ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਲਤਵੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਇਸ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਹੋਈ ਰੱਦੋ-ਬਦਲ ਕਾਰਨ ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ ਦੇ ਟਰਮੀਨਲ 'ਤੇ ਯਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਰੀ ਭੀੜ ਜਮ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਲੋਕ ਕਈ ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਤੱਕ ਫਸੇ ਰਹੇ। ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਯਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਏਅਰਲਾਈਨ ਕੰਪਨੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੱਦ ਹੋਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਿਰ ਸਹੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਾਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਖ਼ੱਜਲ-ਖ਼ੁਆਰੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ। ਕਈ ਯਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਦੂਰ-ਦੁਰਾਡੇ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ ਕੌਮਾਂਤਰੀ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ ਫੜਨੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਪਰ ਮੌਸਮ ਦੀ ਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਯੋਜਨਾਵਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਫੇਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਕੁਝ ਏਅਰਲਾਈਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਫੰਡ ਦੇਣ ਜਾਂ ਅਗਲੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਟਿਕਟਾਂ ਰੀ-ਬੁੱਕ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਲਪ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਯਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੋ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਰਪਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ। ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ 24 ਤੋਂ 48 ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਘਣੀ ਧੁੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਬੱਦਲਵਾਈ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਜਤਾਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਹਵਾਈ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਘਨ ਪੈਣ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਦਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ। ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ ਅਥਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਹਵਾਈ ਅੱਡੇ ਲਈ ਨਿਕਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਉਡਾਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਣ।
Adverse weather conditions and a blanket of dense fog have severely disrupted air travel in Northern India. At Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh, as many as 20 flights were cancelled today due to poor visibility and stormy weather conditions. Beyond the cancellations, several aircraft were forced to divert to neighboring airports such as Delhi and Jaipur as landing became unsafe.
Following overnight rain and morning fog, visibility on the runway dropped significantly below the required safety margins. Airport officials reported that cancellations affected major routes including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Goa. While initial departures were delayed by 4 to 6 hours, many were eventually called off as weather conditions showed no signs of improvement throughout the day.
The cancellations led to chaotic scenes and massive crowds at the airport terminal. Hundreds of passengers, including those with urgent business commitments or connecting international flights, were left stranded for hours. Many travellers expressed frustration over the lack of timely communication from airlines regarding delays and re-bookings. While some carriers offered full refunds or alternate flight options, the sudden disruptions caused significant financial and logistical stress for thousands.
Aviation experts pointed out that the absence of a fully operational CAT-III Instrument Landing System at Chandigarh Airport remains a major hurdle during the winter months, as it limits the airport's ability to handle operations in near-zero visibility. Airport authorities have urged passengers to verify their flight status directly with the airlines before heading to the airport, as more disruptions are anticipated in the next 48 hours due to the ongoing weather alert.
