ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੀ ਸੰਸਦ 'ਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਤਾਦਾਦ: 22 ਨਵੇਂ ਚਿਹਰੇ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ
ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੀ 2025 ਸੰਸਦੀ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿੱਥੇ 22 ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਮੂਲ ਦੇ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ। ਬਰੈਂਪਟਨ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਬਰਲ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਜ਼ਰਵੇਟਿਵ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੀ। ਐਨਡੀਪੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਗਮੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੀਟ ਹਾਰ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਤੀਫਾ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਹ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਵਧਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

ਬਰੈਂਪਟਨ ਖੇਤਰ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਸਨੀਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਲਿਬਰਲ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਰੂਬੀ ਸਹੋਤਾ ਨੇ ਬਰੈਂਪਟਨ ਨੌਰਥ ਤੋਂ ਕੰਜ਼ਰਵੇਟਿਵ ਅਮਨਦੀਪ ਜੱਜ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਇਆ। ਮਨਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੇ ਬਰੈਂਪਟਨ ਈਸਟ ਤੋਂ ਬੌਬ ਦੋਸਾਂਝ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਜਦਕਿ ਅਮਨਦੀਪ ਸੋਹੀ ਨੇ ਬਰੈਂਪਟਨ ਸੈਂਟਰ ਤੋਂ ਤਰਨ ਚਾਹਲ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਇਆ।
ਕੰਜ਼ਰਵੇਟਿਵ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੁਖਦੀਪ ਕੰਗ ਨੇ ਬਰੈਂਪਟਨ ਸਾਊਥ ਤੋਂ ਸੋਨੀਆ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਗਿੱਲ ਨੇ ਬਰੈਂਪਟਨ ਵੈਸਟ ਤੋਂ ਕਮਲ ਖੇੜਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਇਆ।
ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਘਟਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ, ਐਨਡੀਪੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਗਮੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਰਨਬੀ ਸੈਂਟਰਲ ਰਾਈਡਿੰਗ ਤੋਂ ਹਾਰ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਜੇ ਸਥਾਨ 'ਤੇ ਰਹੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਐਨਡੀਪੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਦੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਤੀਫਾ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
