ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਦੀ ਨਵੀਂ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ: ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ‘ਮਾਈਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ’ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਫੇਰਬਦਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀਜ਼ਾ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ‘ਜੈਨੁਇਨ ਸਟੂਡੈਂਟ ਟੈਸਟ’ (GST) ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ‘ਜੈਨੁਇਨ ਟੈਂਪਰੇਰੀ ਐਂਟਰੈਂਟ’ (GTE) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਕਸਦ ਇਹ ਦੇਖਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਕਸਦ ਸਿਰਫ ਉੱਥੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਮੁਹਾਰਤ (IELTS/PTE) ਦੇ ਅੰਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਵੀ ਵਧਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿੱਲਤ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 'ਤੇ ਕੈਪ (ਸੀਮਾ) ਲਗਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਵੀ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

Socio-Economic Impact: Rising inflation and unemployment in these countries have also shaped these policies. There is a growing local sentiment that international students are straining housing markets and job resources. Political pressure has led governments to adopt more restrictive visa regimes.
