ਕਿਸਾਨ ਰੈਲੀ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼: ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਗੇਟਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਪਹਿਰਾ
ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ (ਪੀਯੂ) ਦੇ ਗੇਟਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਰੈਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਨੇ ਛੁੱਟੀ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਪੀਯੂ ਬਚਾਓ ਮੋਰਚਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੈਨੇਟ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਲਈ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਬੰਦ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਸਾਰਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਸੈਕਟਰ 43 ਦੇ ਦਸਹਿਰਾ ਗਰਾਊਂਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਈ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਮਹਾਪੰਚਾਇਤ ਵੱਲ ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਰਿਹਾ। ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਬਲ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ: ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਰੈਲੀ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ, ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ (ਪੀਯੂ) ਦੇ ਗੇਟਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਅਥਾਰਿਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਛੁੱਟੀ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਸੇ ਸੈਨੇਟ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਅੰਦੋਲਨ ਦੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਵਰ੍ਹੇਗੰਢ ਮੌਕੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ 'ਮਹਾਪੰਚਾਇਤ' ਸੈਕਟਰ 43 ਦੇ ਦਸਹਿਰਾ ਗਰਾਊਂਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਈ।
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਦਫ਼ਤਰ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੀੜ ਘੱਟ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਸੈਕਟਰ 43 ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਰੈਲੀ ਵੱਲ ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਕਿਸਾਨ ਸੰਗਠਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਮਹਾਪੰਚਾਇਤ ਕਾਰਨ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਬਲਾਂ, ਰਿਜ਼ਰਵ ਫੋਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ।
ਪੀਯੂ ਬਚਾਓ ਮੋਰਚਾ — ਜੋ ਕਿ 50 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸੰਗਠਨਾਂ, ਕਿਸਾਨ ਸੰਗਠਨਾਂ, ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਮਚਾਰੀ ਯੂਨੀਅਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮ ਹੈ — ਨੇ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ "ਕੈਂਪਸ ਬੰਦ" ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਯੂਨੀਅਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਨਿਧੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਟਾਫ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਯੂਥ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਵੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਦੇ ਗੇਟਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਬਲ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਰਹੇ। ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਗੇਟਭਾਵੇਂ ਬੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ, ਪਰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਬੈਰੀਕੇਡਿੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਰੋਕਾਂ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਿਆਰ ਬਰ ਤਿਆਰ ਖੜ੍ਹੀ ਰਹੀ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਿੰਸਕ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।
In light of the ongoing Student Protests and a major Farmers' Rally in the city, the Chandigarh Police has tightened security at the gates of Panjab University (PU). The university authorities had already announced a holiday, as the struggle by students demanding Senate Elections continues on one side, and a massive 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' of farmers was held at Sector 43 Dussehra Ground on the fifth anniversary of the farmer's movement.
Although there was a limited gathering for the protest outside the Vice-Chancellor's office at Panjab University, this was mainly because the city's attention was focused on the large Farmers' Rally at Sector 43. Due to this Mahapanchayat of farmer organizations, the entire focus of the Police force, reserve forces, and administration remained centralized there.
The PU Bachao Morcha—a joint platform of over 50 student unions, farmer organizations, social groups, and employee unions—had called for a "Campus Bandh" on Wednesday. It was reported that representatives from farmer unions would visit Panjab University to address the students and staff present there. The Youth Congress is also protesting in support of the students.
In view of all these protests, a large number of Chandigarh Police personnel were deployed at the Panjab University Campus gates. Although the University gates were not closed, the Police stood fully prepared with barricading and other obstacles to prevent any kind of violent incident.
