A 40-year-old Perth man has been charged after he allegedly returned from Singapore with dozens of images on his mobile phone, depicting the sexual abuse of children.
Australian Border Force said officers found the images during a baggage examination at Perth Airport on Tuesday.
He has been charged with one count of importing child exploitation material and more charges could follow, with another phone and his laptop being examined.
It’s alleged officers found 41 images and four videos on one of the man’s phones.
The maximum penalty for the importation of child exploitation material is 10 years imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $525,000.
The man from Noranda, in Perth’s northeast, was granted conditional bail.
He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on October 18.
