A person has been taken to hospital after a multi-car collision on the South Gippsland Freeway in Victoria.
Emergency services were called to the freeway at Hallam, 34 kilometres from Melbourne, about 3.45pm.
Up to five cars were involved in the smash, Ambulance Victoria told 9NEWS.
Five people have been assessed at the scene, and one person has been taken to Dandenong Hospital.
Their condition is unknown at this stage.
All lanes remain closed outbound on the South Gippsland Freeway before the Princes Highway in Hallam.
Delays are building quickly back onto the Monash Freeway outbound, VicRoads said in a statement.
“VicRoads advises outbound motorists to consider using the Princes Highway as an alternative route.”
It is not clear when the lanes will re-open.
