A man in Perth’s south has been knocked unconscious after calling out a group who parked illegally in a disabled parking spot.
David Fletcher was walking into an Atwell shopping centre yesterday when he saw the Subaru with no parking pass and decided to call them out on it.
“They all started hurling abuse at me. This is a disabled bay for disabled people. You don’t take advantage of that sort of thing,” Mr Fletcher told 9News.
When the 48-year-old told them to find another parking spot, he says they refused then attacked him.
He says he was punched in the jaw and knocked unconscious by one of them.
“I remember the foul words coming out of the girl’s mouth and really not much more,” he said.
Mr Fletcher spent most of today in Fiona Stanley Hospital, undergoing head and body scans.
Although he had nausea and a headache, doctors cleared him of any long-term damage.
However, due to his job as a mechanical fitter, Mr Fletcher can’t return to work until the end of the week.
“If I came across the same thing – doing the same in a disabled bay again – I’d do the same,” he said.
