An investigation is underway after a man died in police custody in Melbourne’s south-east overnight.
After receiving reports a man was behaving erratically, police attended a Glen Waverley residence on Madeleine Street just before 8pm.
Police said the man appeared to suffer from a medical condition while officers and paramedics were at the scene.
Emergency services attempted to revive the man, but he died at the scene.
An investigation has now been launched by the Homicide Squad, with oversight from the Professional Standards Command – standard practice for deaths in police custody.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
The man is yet to be formally identified.
