The man was left with facial, back and neck injuries in the allegedly unprovoked incident.

A 38-year-old man has been charged accused of launching a violent attack on a commuter at Richmond Railway Station last weekend.

It’s alleged the man randomly approached a 30-year-old man who was talking on a mobile phone at Platform Six of the station about 8.45pm on Saturday.

The 38-year-old is then accused of punching the commuter in the left side of the head, causing him to fall to the ground.

This afternoon detectives arrested the suspect in Euroa, and charged him with intentionally recklessly cause injury.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on January 7, 2019.
