Radio shock-jocks have just announced some major news.
The pair have signed a brand new contract that’s believed to be the biggest ever media deal signed for talent in Australia, worth a staggering $50 million.
The new contract extends their radio show to the end of 2024, with the pair getting paid more than $39,000 for each show.
“It’s bigger than any TV deal anyone’s done, and bigger than any radio deal anyone’s done,” Sandilands said of the contract.
According to entertainment reporter Peter Ford, Kyle and Jackie O are both on the same base salary in their new contract – however, both radio hosts have individually negotiated various bonuses and entitlements, including revenue share.
Caught up in controversy
The announcement comes after the recent controversy surrounding Kyle Sandilands, after he said the Virgin Mary was “chock-a-blocked behind the camel shed” – which drew heavy criticism from Christian lobbyists.
He eventually apologised for the comments on-air, stating that while the comments had been a joke it had been a “hugely bad decision” made in “poor taste”.
“I know in reflection what I said was dumb, and I’m the dumb one for saying it,” Sandilands said.
“No other person has the right to make us feel less for believing whatever we believe in.
“Am I going to quit? No. Am I going to get fired? No. Am I sorry? Absolutely.”
And it’s clear from this new deal that Kyle and Jackie O aren’t going anywhere any time soon.
