Two brazen offenders trying to take off with an ATM in an early morning Melbourne ramraid have left empty handed after they failed to rip the cash machine from its anchors.
The two men smashed through the window of a shopping centre on Linsell Road in Cranbourne East yesterday about 3.45am, before repeatedly reversing a white SUV into the ATM.
The pair can then be seen struggling to untangle a chain connected to the SUV before wrapping it around the base of the ATM and attempting to rip the machine from the ground.
After a series of failed attempts the duo got back into the vehicle and drove away leaving behind a significant damage bill.
The stolen white Nissan Dualis with stolen number plates was found dumped nearby and while nothing was stolen the damage bill is estimated to be in the tens of thousands.
The first male is perceived to be of Islander appearance and aged in his late teens to mid- 20s.
He was wearing a black coloured jacket, black pants and black shoes with a black mask covering half of his face.
The second male is perceived to be Caucasian appearance and aged in his late teens to mid-20s.
He was wearing a black and grey hooded jumper, dark pants and coloured runners.
Investigators have released CCTV and are appealing for anyone who may have dash cam footage in an around the Cranbourne area between 1am-4am showing the white coloured Nissan Dualis.
