An armed man who was wanted by the New South Wales Police has today been arrested in Sydney’s west by tactical response officers.

A warrant for the arrest of the 23-year-old Winston Hills man had been issued by police on outstanding crimes including the possession or use of a prohibited weapon, carrying a knife in a public place and drugs and firearms offences.

A NSW Police tactical operations unit today arrested the man in a car park in Guildford at about 3.30pm and seized his vehicle.

Footage from the scene shows the man, dressed all in black, with his hands cuffed behind his back and surrounded by multiple police officers.

In total, up to half a dozen policemen swarmed the carpark and pounced on the man, who was found with a gun in his pants.

After he was handcuffed, plain clothes officers then searched a silver Volkswagen car that had its windows smashed out. A wallet and a handbag were also seized from the vehicle.

He has since been taken to Parramatta Police Station and is expected to be charged.
